When we last checked in with the construction progress at Orange Door Kitchen, we were about three weeks into the project and still focused on rough plumbing and electrical along with some remaining demo and framing. What a difference three months can make!
At this stage in the game, Orange Door Kitchen is starting to look more and more like the inspiring and energetic space that we know it will become in another five weeks or so. Paint is going up on the walls, finish electrical and plumbing work is underway, and Brian and his team are wrapping up their trim and tile work. Our commercial kitchen equipment was delivered last week (thanks Trimark!) and is just begging to be put to use.
As we approach the end of March we are excited to report that we remain on schedule (knock on wood) for an early May opening, but admittedly a lot could still go wrong between now and then. We hope to wrap up all of the work needed to get our occupancy from the town by the middle of April, which will give the team at M&M Home Services two to three weeks of finish work and punch listing, all while we scramble to put furniture together, decorate and get all of our systems in place for our opening.
The progress of these past three months has not always come easy…there have been huge ups and downs, sleepless nights, unexpected expenses, and all the rest that comes with building out a space as unique and intricate as Orange Door Kitchen. More than anything else, I think we are both just ready to be done with the construction and move onto getting ready to open up and start to share our business with the community. We have really enjoyed showing folks around the space over the past few months, so feel free to drop us a note if you want to schedule a time to stop by. Otherwise, we will see everyone in May!
