Orange Door Hospitality

Orange Door Hospitality

Earlier this month, the Orange Door Supper Club took its first official steps out of the realm of part-time hobby and into the sphere of business.  We filed to incorporate as Orange Door Hospitality LLC, a name that we weighed and debated for a couple of months until it finally felt right.  Admittedly, the name is a drag to type out, but because we plan to expand beyond supper clubs, we needed a word that would encompass our business vision.

"Something is Going to Die Today."

"Something is Going to Die Today."

Note: I wrote this piece in June 2013 and have never shared it before. I guess I was waiting for the right space and Orange Door SC has supplied that! I have since witnessed many more animal slaughters, and it is really interesting to read something that I wrote after my first experience with it.

“Some thing is going to die today.”

Looking past the man saying these words, about 50 yards over his left shoulder, my eyes are fixed on another person.

You Don't Know What You've Got, Till It's Gone

You Don't Know What You've Got, Till It's Gone

No, this post won't be about Cinderella or Joni Mitchell's immortal "Big Yellow Taxi", although I am sure you all would enjoy that. The title actually refers to flavor, more specifically the lack of a specific flavor that we experienced on our recent Nordic adventures to Iceland and Sweden. That flavor was heat, and accompanying its absence was the presence of too much sweet.

The Best Thing Ever...

I am not one to pick favorites.  Those who know me well know that I don't have a favorite movie or artist or bottle of wine...I like a lot of things and have trouble with superlatives.  "This is better than that" is no sweat, but when it comes to "this is the best and better than all the rest," whoa, please don't make me go there.  So when I say that I had the best bite of food that I've ever eaten at Frantzen in Stockholm, it's a BFD and I want everyone I know to know.
