Orange Door Cookbook Club

Orange Door Cookbook Club

Who doesn’t love a good cookbook? At a time when we find ourselves reading 90% of written content on a screen, the act of cracking open a cookbook for the first time is kind of magic. We can delight in the solid feel of the paper, the new book (or old library) smell, the eye-candy photos, the methodical nature of the recipes, and in all of the effort that went into the creation of a useful trove of information! Cookbooks are aspirational, inspirational, and to any home cook like me, educational. In the year since we opened Orange Door Kitchen, Chris and I have spent a lot of time reading and talking with our colleagues and guests about cookbooks. We know that we’re not the only ones obsessed with collecting and exploring cookbooks, so by popular demand, we’re starting a cookbook club for our community!

Portrait Naming Contest!

Portrait Naming Contest!

If you have ever visited Orange Door Kitchen, you’ll probably remember the three black and white portraits that hold court over guests in our dining room. The portraits are not of people, but of farm animals - a cow, a pig, and a sheep - that capture three vivid and unique personalities on film. Most people think that it is an odd choice to feature this art in the dining room of a non-vegan restaurant, but the photos, like the animals themselves, mean a lot to us…

Charting A Course: Spring 2019 - Community

Charting A Course: Spring 2019 - Community

This quarter, we are focusing on COMMUNITY. As people come out of winter hibernation, there’s a natural instinct to flock together, to celebrate the planting season, to gather again on front porches and in sidewalk cafes soaking up the first rays of warm spring sun. We leave the hearth and take to the streets to say, “phew, we all survived another winter together…now let’s have some fun!”

Community is at the heart of everything we do at Orange Door Kitchen…from supporting local food systems to building up small food entrepreneurs to setting a table for strangers to come together over a meal, our business exists to create community!

Putting a New Spin on Toast

Putting a New Spin on Toast

What is it about avocado toast that makes people not think twice about paying $10 for a slice of bread and toppings? It’s simple and delicious…but, in our humble opinion, it’s time for an update. That’s why Orange Door Kitchen is rocking a toast menu at our Fugitive at the Door live music nights for the next 4 months. We think it’s high time that West Acton had a spot to get great toast (for less than $10, mind you) and we can’t wait for you to explore this fabulous canvas for culinary creativity with us.
